Investigation from FBI to CS: GO
FBI Investigates Handicapping and Illegal Betting Issues in CS: GO Tournaments.
Officials in Austria and the USA have launched an investigation into the online FPS (First Person Shooter) game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment companies, on handicapping and illegal betting.
The E-Sports Integrity Commission (ESIC) has announced that they will carry out the investigations made through CS:GO together with the FBI. ESIC commissioner Smith said in an interview with YouTuber and CS:GO player 'slash32' that the FBI is working not to undermine the gaming industry by penalizing players, but to look at the ongoing handicapping incidents.
Although CS:GO is a well-established and leading game brand, it continues to be a game vulnerable to cheating. Last january; 35 Australian players who violated the game and illegal corruption rules banned the game by ESIC. In the ongoing process, 7 more players were banned. In addition, after it was understood that information was leaked to the players on the map by 37 coaches who supervised the players last year, these coaches were also blocked by the game.
Last year, CS: GO broke the world record with 1 million 305 thousand 714 active players worldwide. Although the game contains cheating and a lot of accusations, it still continues to be at the top.
